The basic principle in our Islamic religion is that a person should have good morals. The Noble Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) recommended this matter, and his call was based on this foundation. Where it was said: (I was sent only to perfect good morals).
The morals and behavior of children must be under supervision from the first days of childhood, and if disgraceful behavior and inappropriate morals occur on the part of the child, it must be an alarm for the parents, as it requires that there be a quick and serious movement to address and correct the defect.
Among the methods of reform are the following:
First: Education: There is an important point that we must mention here, which is that children must first know the rules, regulations, etiquette, traditions, and methods of behavior. The child must gradually learn what is desirable behavior and Undesirable behavior, which actions he should perform, and which actions he should stop doing.
The child carries divine preparations and inspirations to accept what is bad and what is good, and what is important is that he sees the role model to learn from them.
Second: Role model: Moral education can find its way to the child’s soul in two ways:
The first is the method of reminding and advising, which is a general and ordinary matter. The parents, through commands and prohibitions and in a language that the child understands, can make the child understand what he should be in this area.
The second is the role model, as he is considered the most important method for reforming and raising children. This path is very influential, and more effective than the first path. Parents must provide the child with a practical model for the child to follow in his behavior and actions. And also by mentioning the stories and good deeds of some righteous heroes. This would create a desire in the child to follow in the footsteps and footprints of these people. The model or role model has a great impact and in important ways is considered an influential factor in reforming and changing the child’s psychological and moral ideas.
The third is Mixing with believers: One of the important ways to reform people with bad morals is to get them to mix with believers and do-gooders so that they can learn from these people good manners and morals in a practical way. This is natural and realistic, as mixing with good and righteous people and accompanying adults results in happiness and success. The most honorable Messenger (may Allah bless him and his family) said: (The happiest people are those who mix with honorable people).
