Five steps to treat autism in children
5:5:30 2024-08-14 711

Autism in children has stages and extents that indicate the extent of the disease's spread. In most cases, children with this disease suffer from three main problems, which are:

First: Mutual social relationships:

The child with autism is isolated, as he does not like to communicate with others, does not respond to those who call him by his name, and avoids the language of visual communication during conversation, as he appears as if he does not hear his interlocutor, and he also appears as if he does not understand the feelings and emotions of others.

Second: Language:

Loss of the ability to use words and sentences, as he cannot continue talking like other children of his age!

And his clear influence by the dialects of the programs he watches on TV or on his mobile phone, if he is addicted to watching them!

He also uses sign language or visual communication a lot instead of talking if he wants something!

Third: Behaviour:

The behaviour of a child with autism tends to be tense, nervous, and follow routines, avoiding mixing with others, as he creates his own world for himself, and does not like to go beyond his usual scenarios!

So how do parents face this challenge?

Parents must follow the necessary steps to rehabilitate the child in order to integrate him with his surroundings and overcome this disease, which are as follows:

First: Referring the sick child to a specialist doctor; to provide advice and assistance to improve the child's condition, by diagnosing the extent of and the severity of the disease.

Second: Send the child to autism rehabilitation institutes, if available; because this will contribute to their treatment and supervision by experienced specialists.

Third: The father should take the child with him on his trips outside the home, and teach him to depend on himself by giving him money to buy and deal directly with shop owners, and involving him in talking with those he sits with and meets, and it is preferable for this step to be daily.

Fourth: Creating a safe and calm environment at home, where both the father and mother are responsible for not quarrelling and fighting in front of the child, and avoiding anything that would worsen his behavioural health condition.

Fifth: The necessity of investing the parents' free time, and allocating daily times to conduct communication exercises with others (such as looking at the other person while talking to him), and teaching him how to rely on himself (such as dressing himself).

A great responsibility falls on the shoulders of both parents. They must not neglect it, because their neglect will contribute effectively to the aggravation of the disease, and consequently the loss of the child, such that treatment will be difficult later on.
