Evidence and ILL research: claims and warrants
As we try to demonstrate, issues of ontology, epistemology and methodology are inevitably interrelated, whether explicitly or not. A number of reviews of ILL research methods have been published, and it is not our aim to summarize such a large topic here. Rather, through some observations about methods in ILL research, we aim to consider their relevance for our core arguments. Itis customary to map this area along a continuum, from those which centralize the question of how the human organism, on the intra-individual scale, acquires additional languages, through to those which use ethnographic techniques to investigate intersubjective discursive practices, and classrooms as cultural systems, so we shall follow this approach in these remarks.
