indicative (adj.) (indic, INDIC)

A term used in the GRAMMATICAL CLASSIFICATION of SENTENCE types, and usually seen in contrast to IMPERATIVE, SUBJUNCTIVE, etc., MOODS. It refers to VERB forms or sentence/CLAUSE types used in the expression of STATEMENTS and QUESTIONS, e.g. the horse is walking. With reference to statements, the term ‘declarative’ may be used.
