Consonants in syllables

There are normally no more than two consonants allowed at the beginning of the syllable in NigP. A few words contain three in sophisticated, English-influenced, varieties. Thus the word street may be pronounced /strit/ or /srit/. The clusterless form /sitiriti/ is possible in totally uneducated varieties. At the end of a syllable, the maximum number of consonants allowed is two. Again we find, for the English word help for example, the two pronunciations /hεlp/ or /hεlεp/.
