Some people who left school at the age of 16 or 18 with no understanding of anything—except perhaps their school schedules, the location of Burkina Faso, and the reasons for the invalidity of the Corn Laws (I don't know this myself). In other words: all they know is information. This is what the school gives you: just information. Well, there are also some analytical skills like long division and grammar, most of which you won't use in your life after leaving school. Some of the subjects taught in schools are useful, such as teaching a foreign language, but most of the subjects are of no use at all.
This is what the school gives you: just information
Don't get me wrong, I am not preaching ostracism; it teaches us how to learn—an important skill that will stick with us for the rest of our lives—but it takes us ten, twelve, or even more years to do it. Also think about all those things school hasn't taught your kids all those years like how to think independently, change a light bulb, be assertive, stay out of debt, recognize when conflicts flare up, resolve conflicts calmly, treat others with respect, how to act when the car breaks down.
How to face fears, how to accept loss with good spirit, how to handle winning calmly
You may think: "But the school teaches children how to deal with winning and losing, otherwise what is the benefit of the school sports day?" Yes, I know that the school provides a great deal of training for these things (and no training for other things), but the school does not teach them how to handle them well; the school leaves the child to lose every time without teaching him how to deal with the loss and accept it. In general, the things that children train on in school are the same things that they can train on outside school, and the reason for this is that children learn these things due mainly to their presence among a group of children; this is what teaches the child socially acceptable behavior and socially unacceptable behavior. Teachers have nothing to do with this. These things can be learned among any group of children, whether in a local youth group, or in a football club, or even while they are playing with each other.
The point here is that educating your children involves more than just going to school; Going to school is important, but it is not half as important as the education process itself. The school provides the children with an educational education (as the name indicates), but it is your job to teach them, and do not expect the school to do this for you.
I know children, who received their education at home, but they were able to become well-balanced adults with high capabilities, perhaps more than others who received an integrated academic education, and this shows us that school is not the basis for a good education. I'm not asking you to just teach your kids at home (unless you want to), all I'm saying is that you shouldn't count on the school giving your kids something useful except for information, plus a few science skills like how to operate a recorder or anatomy Frog, otherwise it is your responsibility.
