We looked at the head movement operation by which a head can move into the next highest head position within the structure containing it. Here, we look at a very different kind of movement operation traditionally termed wh-movement, by which a wh-expression like who or what languages moves into the specifier position within CP. We begin by looking at the syntax of wh-questions, and then go on to probe the syntax of other types of wh-clause, including explanative clauses and relative clauses.
