In the MINIMALIST PROGRAMME, a general ECONOMY constraint which allows the MOVEMENT of an element only if it satisfies the requirements of the moved element. For example, an item can be moved to a particular position only if the MORPHOLOGICAL properties of the item would not otherwise be satisfied in the DERIVATION. An element may not move if its only motivation is to satisfy the requirements of some other element.
