A focus is a point to which rays of light converge, or from which they diverge. The principal focus of a mirror is the point, on the principal axis, in which rays of light parallel to that axis meet after being reflected from the mirror. The distance of this point from the mirror is the principal focal length. A focus is real when it is caused by the meeting of rays of light, and virtual when rays appear to come from it.
