How do we direct our youth towards prayer? (The foundation-building stage)
3:29:37 2025-01-06 1006

Adolescence, and the second decade of life in general, is considered the foundation-building stage. It is the stage leading to maturity, and everything a person learns in it from knowledge and experiences will have an effective and fateful role in shaping the directions of his life. If we go beyond the first six years of life, which educational psychologists have emphasized the great importance of, we must admit that there is no other period more important than adolescence in laying the basic foundations and building the first bricks of his life. Many characteristics and dimensions take their final form and formula at this stage, and the most vital foundations are also determined in it, the most important of which are:

First: The foundation of the body's safety and growth, perfection and physical deficiency, especially in the spine, leg, and foot.

Second: Building the foundations of psychological safety, and the necessity of paying attention in this area to the fact that behavior is sound and balanced.

Third: Crystallizing the foundations of maturity and emotional orientation, which takes the form of inclination towards some people or some directions.

Fourth: Establishing the moral foundations, which are the set of values that govern his relationships, so that they settle in his soul and take their specific form.

Fifth: Building the foundations of social natures in terms of politeness, modesty, openness or introversion in relationships with others.

Sixth: Crystallizing the foundations of reasoning, logic, intellectual path and its frameworks, the cosmic vision, and the style of dealing with life's affairs.

Seventh: Focusing on the religious and doctrinal foundations, religious orientation, customs and behaviors of a religious nature, and the defensive ability necessary to defend them.

Eighth: Many other foundations are also determined during this period; such as the awakening of instinct and conscience.

As for matters related to religion, one of its dimensions relates to the complementary aspects of religion, and the readiness to perform all religious orders and teachings, especially since he will enter the stage of religious obligation at the end of this stage, and what results from that in entering the age of obligation as a mature man or woman.

This currently assumes organizing what he used to do in childhood in terms of imitation, playing, or religious exercises so that it takes on an official and obligatory character. The issue of the crystallization of morals - including religious morals - must take on the form of perfection during this period, as it is assumed that he will enter the field of social life as a committed person.
